Handmade Lampwork Beads and Jewelry by Bonnie Knapp

After a long and rewarding career in the corporate world, I am finally able to enjoy my artistic side.

Creating with glass is one of my biggest joys.  There is something transfixing about the flame that allows the mind to totally relax and focus only on the task at hand.  Before you know it, hours have passed and it feels as if you've just begun.  What I thought would be a casual hobby has become a consuming passion.  With early beginnings in beading, I was drawn to the beautiful lamp work beads. It wasn't long before I hung up my stringing materials and became focused on making the beads. For years I had dabbled in other art forms from painting to metals and lapidary, but I feel I have finally found the perfect outlet for my creativity.

It has been about 5 years now and I estimate over 3000 hours on the torch.  The beautiful world around me and those I love are the inspiration for my beads.  The possibilities for bead making are endless, so I figure I have many more years ahead of me. My beads are made in my home studio using a variety of glasses.  Beads are taken from the torch directly to the kiln where they are properly annealed for strength and durability.

I make all of my beads to reflect my love of art and pride of workmanship.  I hope that you enjoy my beads as much as I enjoy making them!
